2019 BATHROOM DESIGN TRENDS THAT INCREASE YOUR ROI

A few months ago, we showcased kitchen design trends we expect to see a lot more of in 2019, but what about the bathroom? According to Remodeling magazine’s 2018 Cost vs. Value Report, bathroom remodels are among projects with the top 10 highest returns on investment. What impacts the return?  Some of it has to do with where you are geographically, but much of it has to do with doing right. While you may think nothing much has changed in bathroom design, in actuality, a lot has.

Here’s a look at recent bathroom design trends that not only help create a beautiful space but also have a positive impact on your return on investment.

4 BATHROOM DESIGN TRENDS FOR 2019

UNIVERSAL DESIGN

Our population is aging, and as it does, so grows the need for home design that is accessibility aware. Universally Design features within the bathroom include wider doorways and curb-less walk-in showers.  Incorporated in ways that don’t sacrifice aesthetic, these small modifications are forward-thinking features that will increase your ROI and perhaps even benefit yourself at some future point.

GROWING IN SIZE

While bathroom design has historically focused primarily on function, bathrooms have evolved into a place to relax and enjoy.  Much like the evolution of the walk-in closet, homeowners want their bathrooms to feel more like a room than a place of function.  This has resulted in a preference for more space and more features.

TECHNOLOGY IN THE BATHROOM

Technology is being incorporated into every area of the home, and the bathroom is no exception.  Features such as motion detecting faucets, heated towel bars, self-cleaning toilets, and Bluetooth showerheads are easy ways to up the luxury factor of a bathroom.  Meanwhile, water conserving technology and motion detecting lights can help you save money and the planet.

CLEAN LINES

From wall mounted sinks and cabinets to floor-to-ceiling glass shower enclosures, something we are definitely seeing more of is clean lines.  While these features can be incorporated into an overall Modern design, it doesn’t have to.  Subtly incorporating clean lines and streamlined features, whether as part of an overall modern design or another style, gives the illusion of less clutter and more space, making it a win-win for everyone.
